An Introduction to Kinesiotape

Kinesiotape is a flexible tape, designed to mimic the skin's elasticity, it gently allows the free flow of blood and lymphatic fluid to the deep layers of the skin. This special tape helps to improve circulation, release tension, support muscles, and re-program movement patterns.

Why you should incorporate a daily Faceyoga aftercare: Kinesiotape may be the missing link to get an even more effective Faceyoga practice. As our facial mimics and posture greatly affect how we are aging, changing the movement pattern of our face to be the most balanced, relaxed, and serene it can be, will directly impact tension wrinkles, and sagging of the skin.

What you will need to get started: Kinesiotape and scissors. You can get Kinesiotape at most sports shops, or online.

There are 4 Kinesiotape tutorials available in the GYM:

1) Reducing tension in the brow area, reverse 11- lines, and smooth forehead wrinkles.

2) Smoothing nasolabial lines and reducing tension in the chin and on the upper lip.

3) Reducing jowls, lifting the corners of the mouth, and sculpting the cheekbones.

4) Reducing TMJ tension and pain, including a short buccal massage.

Let’s deep dive into what exactly is Kinesiology tape!

For those who don’t know, kinesiology tape is “a therapeutic tape that’s applied strategically to the body to provide support, lessen pain, reduce swelling and improve performance.” Kinesiology tape differs from traditional athletic tape.

Its thin, stretchy makeup mimics skin’s elasticity, while its flexible approach enables wearers a superb range of motion. Kinesiology tape is used for the body, but it’s also often applied on the face—albeit not necessarily as a wrinkle remedy, but rather as a solution to alleviate headaches, sinus pain and as a mask to protect winter sports enthusiasts from nature’s elements.

The uses are so diverse it’s entered the cosmetology-slash-anti-aging sector.

Below, I list three brands offering quality tape that can tackle wrinkles.

A roll of tape is far more inexpensive than a cosmetic treatment and much healthier for your overall skin, body, and wellbeing!
