A Weekend At The Strandhotel Marienlyst To Film Face Yoga Flow
How do we fit everything into these modern-day lives? As women, we wear so many hats that it can become dizzying to keep up with which one you wearing throughout the day. Mixing mothering with working, a businesswoman with cook, entrepreneur and cleaner, life organiser and guardian. It seems to me as time goes on as women we are pressured to wear multiple hats at the same time, day in and day out, not stopping for summer holidays or weekends off.
So how do we strive to continue trying to fit everything into one life and the challenges that go with it? Sometimes we just really need a break from our own daily lives, the stresses of keeping up with summer holidays, kids on holidays, never-ending plans and showing up either for your business or for your children & family and seemingly everyone else except for... you!
How can we prove to ourselves that we are worth just as much as everyone else we tend to? I hope that this
I ventured to a point where after a very busy summer juggling business and 4 very active children, I needed to remind myself that I am just as important as they are. I needed some time off to be quiet, reflect, take in some incredibly inspiring views and pose questions to myself that hadn't had the time or chance to be thought, let alone answered for some time. Like, what kind of mother am I? What kind of person am I? What do I want to focus on? Who am I becoming and how do I want to navigate this?
As someone who advocates regularly for self-care and attention, I realised that I needed to adhere to my advice and take some time off to dedicate just to that - self-care, rest, harmony and rebalancing. It's so important to just have that pause and to be able to retreat from the never-ending list of things that we've been committing to in our daily lives and just - slow down. So this is what I did and I can't tell you how fortunate I felt and how deeply nourishing the weekend was. All I needed was two days, but I am certain if you can find 24 hours or 48 hours for yourself, just those one or two days to have a little space, be able to breathe, think and contemplate... just not do anything, you may rediscover yourself in a whole new way!
Craving a break, I found myself at the Strandhotel Marienlyst in Denmark, to immerse in my own experience of having time off (with a little bit of work in the mix!) and allowing myself to be the one who is taken care of. The weekend away helped me to rediscover and feel a sense of radiance again, renewed my zest for life and stoked the fires of excitement for this human experience.
The room I had was the Superior Seaview, intimate and cozy, with an incredibly relaxing feel. The hotel felt alive with people from the city but that everyone was there to switch off, unwind and immerse in the experience the hotel provides whether it was sleeping, eating, visiting the spa or immersing in the view.
There is an incredible spa called the Sea Spa which features different experiences for complete relaxation; like luxurious day beds for losing time and an immersive sauna. The spa is located on the water's edge so it's easy to dip from the ocean to the sauna and back again.
It's very Scandinavian spa-inspired with a salt bath ice plunge bath and shower. A treat was visiting the night spa which features a boutique cocktail bar. Combining an ultimate experience that feels like you have arrived in a kind of heaven!
The food was a dream of an experience, incredible dishes with the deserts eclipsing my expectations. I spent lunch with my two friends and we unanimously decided we wanted to indulge in sampling 3 of the deserts. We tried the Mousse au Chocolat, Crème Brûlée with Bourbon Vanilla and the Strawberry a la Romanoff,
I don't drink alcohol and haven't for some time, but was lucky to be able to treat myself to the finest non-alcoholic sparkling teas from Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Co. Jasmin, white tea and Darjeeling was my drink of choice and it was so delicious.
It wasn't just all luxury and pampering, I was there to film the new face yoga flow series. This new style of face yoga I have been working on blends a mix of relaxing rhythmic movements inspired by kundalini yoga and face yoga workouts that soothe the nervous system.
The result of this combination of flow movements I have created has become like an antipode to the stresses of modern life. A way to unwind and connect with myself, centring and grounding through practises I know and have loved for years, but with new twists, and almost upgrades to the effects that they produce.
The Marienlyst was the ideal place to capture these new workouts for the Gym app as it was an environment that set a tone for what the face yoga flow would want to bring into your day. A moment of calm, self-care, luxury, awakened centeredness and clarity. You can awaken to an incredible view or vista every morning or noon that you practice!
You can find the new Face Yoga Flow workout series online on the My Face Yoga Gym. If you are not yet a member then make the most of your 20-day free trial. Use code 20FREE on a Monthly Membership
