Reducing Tension In The Face For The Holiday Season

As we are getting closer to the holiday season, I am hearing so many of you seeking ways to release the tension in your faces and create a more vibrant alive face for the holidays!

Here are some great tips you can start to apply now, alongside your daily face yoga practice. I encourage you to dedicate yourself to every day, even twice a day if you can as that will speed up the time to see results and benefits.

Unwinding tension in the face can be a relaxing and beneficial practice. Here are some top tips to help you unwind tension in your face:

Deep Breathing:

Practice deep breathing exercises to help relax your facial muscles. Inhale slowly through your nose, allowing your abdomen to expand, and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Face Yoga:

A basic technique you can do anytime is, gently massage your face with your fingertips. Start at your forehead and move down to your jawline, applying gentle pressure in circular motions.

Warm Compress:

Apply a warm compress to your face. This can help relax muscles and improve blood circulation. Use a warm towel or

a cloth soaked in warm water and place it on your face for a few minutes.

Face Yoga Skin Rolling Technique:

Use our skin rolling technique as we use in my Face Yoga Gym to stretch tense facial muscle and increase relaxation. Grab some skin and muscle at the angle on your jawline and gently start rolling the skin and muscles on the side of your face upwards until you reach the hairline at the temple.

My Face Yoga Gym:

Explore my facial yoga exercises in the MFYG app that target different muscle groups in the face. These exercises can

help release tension and promote relaxation.

Stay Hydrated:

Dehydration can contribute to tension in the face. Ensure you are well-hydrated throughout the day by drinking an

adequate amount of water.

Reduce Eye Strain:

If you spend a lot of time looking at screens, take regular breaks to reduce eye strain. Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every

20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Mindful Relaxation:

Practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques. Be aware of any tension in your face and consciously release it. Focus

on the present moment and let go of any stress.

Aromatherapy:

Use calming essential oils like lavender or chamomile. Inhaling these scents can promote relaxation and help release

tension.

Reduce Caffeine and Sugar Intake:

Excessive caffeine and sugar intake can contribute to tension. Consider reducing your consumption, especially in the

hours leading up to bedtime.

Good Sleep Hygiene:

Ensure you are getting enough quality sleep. Lack of sleep can contribute to overall tension, including in the face.

Cold Compress for Puffy Eyes:

If your eyes are puffy, use a cold compress to reduce swelling. This can also have a refreshing effect on your face.

Remember that everyone is different, so it might take some experimentation to find the techniques that work best for you. Consistency is key, so try to incorporate these practices into your routine for long-term benefits. If you have chronic facial tension or discomfort, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional.
