Why Circulation Is So Important For Your Face
“Increasing circulation is much more important than what people think because we're so used to having poor circulation on the face. We don't even think about it because it's so 'normal' for the face.” Niki Face Yoga
It's become mostly just the norm, looking puffy, looking tired, and having dull skin, which creates that lack of glow. For example, when you see children, they have great circulation throughout the body, face and skin (in most cases) as they tend to move more.
As adults, we tend to have a lifestyle where we maybe sit for many hours at the computer, we don't have a lot of outdoor time, or we don't exercise too much. You'll find that generally people who exercise and do cardio training tend to have better circulation across their skin, but not necessarily on the face. The circulation can be great across the body - but it still misses the face.
There is a study that shows that in some cases where people have led a sedentary lifestyle and were then given a workout plan to increase the circulation in their body. The study tracked both the effects on the body and also on the skin.
The study found that in some cases, the skin would reverse the signs of aging by the way that the skin was responding and regenerating could be reversed by up to 20 years. I find that possibility amazing - that our bodies can do this if we just apply the practice.
So we can see just how important circulation is for everything to operate well in our bodies.
And we don't have to just focus on face yoga! Squeeze in more physical exercise to your day, use facial cups, try gua sha or book yourself in for a massage.
